Compounding blanks that understate interest

Leaving the compounding interval empty in Smart Crypto Calculator PC is only correct for true maturity-pay programmes.

Several clients arrive with tidy principals and APYs, yet their first self-built projection sits below what a programme’s own illustration shows. The usual cause is an empty compounding field on a product that credits rewards daily or weekly.

Maturity-pay vs recurring credits

If interest arrives only when the lock ends, a blank or “none” interval can be fair. If credits land on a schedule and remain in the programme, the calculator needs that schedule; otherwise it treats the APY like simple interest over the window.

How we check during a review

We ask one question: “If you opened the account tomorrow, when would the first reward appear?” The answer dictates the interval. Ambiguous answers go back to the term sheet before we trust the ending balance.

Practice drill

Build two identical workspaces in Smart Crypto Calculator PC — one with daily compounding, one blank — using the same APY and ninety days. The gap is the teaching moment more than any paragraph we could send by email.
